MOSCOW, July 31 (RIA Novosti) - Russian metals giant Norilsk Nickel said Thursday its nickel output grew almost 13.8%, year-on-year, in January-June to 143,400 metric tons.
Norilsk Nickel, which accounts for more than 20% of global nickel output, more than 10% of cobalt production and 3% of copper, said copper production grew 3% in the reporting period to 208,000 metric tons.
At the same time, palladium production fell 5.5% to 1.44 million ounces and platinum output declined 7% to 338,000 ounces in January-June 2008, the metals giant said.
The company's share of the Russian nickel market is around 96%. It accounts for 55% of domestic copper production and produces 95% of Russia's cobalt.
