MOSCOW, July 25 (RIA Novosti) - The presidium of the Russian government will consider on Monday a proposal to hold the first international forum devoted to nanotechnology in Moscow in December, the presidium's press service said.

The forum is expected to be held at the Central Exhibition Complex, Expocentre, featuring meetings, speeches, and seminars involving leaders of the global nanotechnology industry, along with roundtables, press conferences and exhibitions.

The main goal of the forum, which will focus on nanotechnology and nanoindustry with an emphasis on their applied use in all branches of industry and business, is to improve nanotechnology research worldwide.

The forum, which is to be held on an annual basis, is also intended to help Russia secure a leading position on the international nanotechnology market.

The project to organize and hold the forum will be presented by Russia's Science and Education Minister Andrei Fursenko. Russia's state nanotechnology corporation Rosnanotech will be the organizer of the forum.

At an international nano renewable energy conference in Denver, Colorado, earlier this week, Rosnanotech chief Leonid Melamed said Russia will invest a total of $4 billion in nanotechnology research over the next four years.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Rodney E. Slater told the conference told the global market for nanotechnology will be worth $2 trillion by 2015.
