TEL AVIV, July 6 (RIA Novosti) - Israel has reopened its border crossings with the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip after closing them again as a result of Palestinian rocket fire, an Israeli army spokesman said on Sunday.

Peter Lerner said the border crossings reopened on Sunday morning to allow the supplies of essential items, and also cement and fuel into the Palestinian territory. Palestinians seeking medical treatment abroad were also being allowed into Israel, the spokesman said.

Israel and Hamas-led militants reached a truce agreement on June 19. Under the deal, Israel agreed to reopen its border crossings with the Gaza Strip to allow the supplies of essential goods into the Palestinian territory.

Since then, Gaza militants have repeatedly launched rocket attacks on the Israeli territory, forcing Israel to close the border crossings in response.
