MOSCOW, June 23 (RIA Novosti) - A music professor at a state university in the central Russian city of Lipetsk has been sentenced to four years in prison for dealing drugs, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office said Monday.

Yulia Ivanova, professor at the choral conducting and vocal department, was found guilty of buying and attempting to sell around 1 kg (2.2 pounds) of heroin to her students for 500,000 rubles ($21,000) in August 2006.

Ivanova was caught red-handed during a drug deal.

Most of the heroin sold in Russia is trafficked via Tajikistan, which shares a border with Afghanistan, the world's largest heroin producer.
