Khanty-Mansiisk delegation to attend St. Petersburg forum

A delegation from West Siberia's Khanty-Mansiisk will participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will start on June 6, the region's governor said.

MOSCOW, May 21 (RIA Novosti) - A delegation from West Siberia's Khanty-Mansiisk will participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will start on June 6, the region's governor said.

During a TV link between Khanty-Mansiisk, Moscow and Brussels, Alexander Filipenko said the region is interested in attracting foreign investment.

"Last year investment in Khanty-Mansiisk (Yugra) reached around 10 billion euros ($16 billion), which is some 60%-63% of total investment in the region's projects," Filipenko said.

"We can now offer investors projects in the financial and credit spheres, and industrial production, such as forestry and timber processing, as well as mineral resource ventures," the governor added.

The region's main foreign partners are Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Belarus, Italy and the U.S. Currently, around 200 foreign companies operate in the Khanty-Mansiisk Region, Filipenko said.

The governor added that Khanty-Mansiisk is preparing to host the Russia-EU summit at the end of June.
