MOSCOW, May 20 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian government presidium will hold its first meeting on May 26, Sergei Sobyanin, a deputy prime minister and chief of government staff, said Tuesday.

He said the newly formed body would consider new regulations and changes to existing regulations regarding federal executive bodies.

Sobyanin said a consideration of the changes should be carried out today so that on Monday the inner Cabinet can approve them and ministries and departments start work on them.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin announced earlier that the inner Cabinet would meet on a weekly basis with the participation of issue-specific ministers, adding that the 'regular' Cabinet would meet at least once a month.

Under the federal Constitutional law on the Russian government, any inner Cabinet's decisions must be approved by a majority and should not contradict resolutions adopted at government meetings. The government has the right to annul any decision taken by the presidium.

The president is also authorized to chair government and inner Cabinet sessions.

The creation of the inner cabinet is being widely seen as part of an ongoing redistribution of presidential and governmental powers.
