"I have decided not to run in the May 21 parliamentary election," she said. "The decision is final and will not be changed.
She also said she would not join the opposition.
"I do not intend to move to the opposition camp, and I am surprised why I am being asked such a question," she said, adding that she approved of the government's current course.
"We are moving in the right direction on the strategic level," she said.
Burdzhanadze is completing her second term in office and until recently she was expected to run again despite opposition demands for her resignation.
The ruling party's list in the upcoming election will be headed by current Foreign Minister David Bakradze, Rustavi-2 television said on Monday.
The party has yet to confirm the media reports.
