MADRID, April 9 (RIA Novosti) - A court in Andalusia in southern Spain ruled Wednesday that a judge who forgot to release from jail a man who had been acquitted of all charges against him be suspended from her post for a year, a newspaper said.

"Jose Campoy was only freed from jail 437 days after he was acquitted during an investigation into a criminal case as the judge had forgotten to sign the document approving his release," the El Mundo newspaper wrote on its website.

Judge Adelina Entrena was also ordered to pay 103,000 euros ($162,000) in compensation to Campoy.

"Entrena will be barred from any legal activity for a year; she will also have to pay court expenses connected with the consideration of Jose Campoy lawyers' complaints," El Mundo said.

This was not the first time Judge Entrena was reported to have left innocent people languishing in jail.

"Judge Entrena has repeatedly forgotten to release from prisons people acquitted during investigations; one of them spent an extra 35 days in jail, while another stayed an additional 38 days behind bars," the newspaper said.
