VLADIVOSTOK, March 21 (RIA Novosti) - Russian transport police have detained a drug courier in possession of over 18 kg (40 lbs) of heroin on board a Moscow-Vladivostok train, an Interior Ministry source said on Friday.
The drug courier, a 46 year-old woman, was detained after police found the heroin in her luggage.
The 18.3 kg of heroin seized by police would be "worth over 37 million rubles ($1.6 million) on the black market," the source said.
The heroin is thought to have come from a Central Asian former Soviet republic.
