MOSCOW, March 6 (RIA Novosti) - A delegation from the international affairs committee of Russia's lower house of parliament is to make a trip to the Middle East for talks on a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Russian lawmakers are expected to visit Israel, Palestinian territories, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon in the next two months, said Konstantin Kosachyov, head of the international affairs committee.

Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Saltanov said "the solution [to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict] is challenging and no quick results are expected, although dialogue between the sides has started."

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Wednesday that she had managed to convince both the Israelis and Palestinians to resume peace talks, earlier suspended over the recent Israeli ground offensive in Gaza.

More than 120 Palestinians were killed during the Israeli operation, which was launched in response to rocket attacks on southern Israel by militants based in the Hamas-controlled enclave.

Russia's Foreign Ministry expressed concerns over the recent "eruption of violence" in Gaza, and urged the sides to "put an end to the deadly confrontation."
