MOSCOW, February 21 (RIA Novosti) - Scientists have identified fossilized remains found in China's eastern Zhejiang Province, as a previously unknown species of herbivore dinosaur, the Xinhua news agency reported on Friday.

The long-neck dinosaur, five meters tall and 15 meter long, was said to belong to a previously unknown family of the sauropod suborder, uniting large long-necked plant-eating reptiles. It is said to live in the Cretaceous Period about 60 million years ago.

"It demonstrates many unique features, different from any identified dinosaur species. It will enrich the dinosaur family," the agency quotes Jin Xingsheng, deputy curator of the Zhejiang Museum of Natural History, as saying.

However, Chinese and Japanese scientists, who made the unique discovery on the outskirts of Dongyang City, still fail to name the dinosaur.

"The scientific name for this species of dinosaur will be subject to examination and approval," Jin said. "It will probably be named after Dongyang."

Rare dinosaur fossils are often found in China. In 1977, fossils of a 22-meter dinosaur were unearthed in the province.

In August 2007, China said it had found remains of a previously unknown dinosaur, near the Lishui City in Zhejiang. The reptile was named after the place it was found.
