KABUL, February 18 (RIA Novosti) - At least 35 civilians were killed and over 35 injured in south Afghanistan on Monday in a suicide bomb attack that targeted a Canadian military convoy, national media said, citing officials.

The attack occurred in the Spin Boldak town in the Kandahar province, near the border with Pakistan. Three Canadian soldiers were also reported as wounded. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

The blast came a day after at least 80 people were killed and as many injured by another attack in the Kandahar province when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device in a crowd of about 500 people. The crowd had been watching a dog fight.

Russia's Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the growing activity of the Taliban and al- Qaida inspired groups in Afghanistan, calling it a "threat to security of the Afghan population, as well as international civilian and military groups."

The Taliban carried out more than 140 suicide missions in Afghanistan last year. More than 6,000 people died in fighting in the country in 2007, nearly 2,000 of them civilians, according to official sources.
