WARSAW, January 18 (RIA Novosti) - Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski is set to arrive in Moscow on January 21 for an official visit, the ministry's press service said on Friday.

"At the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Sikorski will introduce proposals on the resumption of multidimensional dialogue and Polish-Russian cooperation," the ministry's spokesman said.

The foreign ministers are expected to discuss a number of other issues, including U.S. missile shield plans for Poland and the Czech Republic.

The United States is planning to deploy 10 missile interceptors in Poland and a radar in the Czech Republic as part of its European missile shield, to avert possible strikes from "rogue" states, such as Iran and North Korea. Russia has objected, citing concerns over its national security.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is due to visit Moscow on February 8.

During his visit, Poland's new prime minister is set to discuss the "improvement of relations between Moscow and Warsaw," something he has called a priority for current Polish foreign policy.

In his inaugural speech, Tusk told the Polish parliament that relations with Russia must be improved, and that Moscow had shown its willingness to engage in dialogue.

Tusk had earlier said that his government had "no rigid doctrine regarding the deployment of a U.S. missile defense base in the country," and that the issue was "open for all arguments for and against."

In November 2005, Russia imposed a ban on Polish meat and other agricultural produce over what it called the low quality of meat and other products imported by and via Poland.

The ban proved a major source of tension between Russia and Poland, which vetoed talks on a new Russia-EU partnership and cooperation agreement in protest against the embargo.

The two countries signed a memo of understanding to lift the embargo from the bulk of Polish meat supplies last December.
