MOSCOW, December 26 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian Tu-154 military aircraft which was flying along the Finnish border did not violate the country's air space, a Russian Air Force spokesman said on Wednesday.

Earlier today Finnish media said the Russian aircraft entered its air space southwest of Porvoo on the south coast at 10.55-10.58 a.m. local time (08:55-08:58 GMT).

Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky said: "A Russian Air Force Tu-154 aircraft was in the area, but did not cross over the Finnish border."

He also said that a Tallinn air traffic controller had twice given the crew an instruction to change its course, which was carried out without violating Finnish airspace.

In September 2007, Russia admitted having accidently violated Finland's air space saying it was caused by a misunderstanding between the aircraft crew and the air traffic control center.
