Russian aid reaches Palestinian West Bank after Jordan delay

GAZA, October 31 (RIA Novosti) - Russian humanitarian aid was delivered to the Palestinian territories' West Bank on Wednesday as part of Russia's effort to improve the worsening situation in the region, a diplomatic source said.

Trucks loaded with 60 tons of food and medicine arrived in Ramallah, the seat of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' government, two months later than scheduled after being forced to wait in Jordan for transit approval from Israel.

The aid convoy is also likely to face bureaucratic problems on its 200-kilometer (124 mile) long trip to Gaza, under the control of the radical Islamist group Hamas since June.
