MOSCOW, October 26 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Mikhail Yuzhny advanced on Friday to the semifinals of the 13th International St. Petersburg Open after his opponent, Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber, retired from their quarterfinal match.

Kohlschreiber, who had lost the first set 4-6, was forced to throw in the towel due to an injury.

Third-seeded Yuzhny will now face in the semifinals Britain's second seed Andy Murray, who defeated Russia's Dmitry Tursunov 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 in another quarterfinal game.

The prestigious tennis tournament, which runs through October 28, was first held in Russia's northern capital in 1995. The prize money on offer has increased from $300,000 to $1 million this year.
