MOSCOW, October 17 (RIA Novosti) - The seventh session of the Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission for military-technical cooperation, presided by both countries' defense ministers, began in Moscow Wednesday.

The commission headed by Anatoly Serdyukov and A. K. Antony will meet for two days to discuss the status of defense cooperation and prospects for the future.

India reaffirmed plans to draft a comprehensive cooperation treaty to boost trade and ties in other areas. Development and production of a fifth generation multipurpose fighter are also reported to be on the agenda.

"Joint production of spare parts for Sukhoi military aircraft is also expected to be touched upon," a Russian defense sector source said.

Antony will also visit the Tactical Missiles Corporation and NPO Mashinostroyenia, a co-founder of BrahMos, a Russian-Indian joint missile manufacturer.

Last week, Moscow and New Delhi signed a $1.6 billion contract for the supply of 40 Russian Su-30 Flanker fighter assembly sets to India by 2010.

The sessions are held annually and in alternate capitals, either New Delhi or Moscow. The previous meeting took place in the Indian capital on January 24.
