"Syria regards the violation of its airspace by the Israeli Air Force and the air strikes against Syrian territory as provocation, and reserves the right to an appropriate response," the SANA news agency quoted him as saying.
Some experts said the incident has set the stage for a war between the two countries.
SANA reported earlier that two Israeli Air Force planes crossed Syrian airspace in the early hours of Thursday in the northeast of the country, from the direction of the Mediterranean.
They flew over Syrian territory and came under fire from Syrian air defense forces. As they left Syrian airspace, they fired several rockets, but caused no casualties or destruction.
But a spokesman for Israel's Defense Ministry denied the aircraft had violated Syrian airspace.
