MOSCOW, August 24 (RIA Novosti) - The capital's first Pet Funeral Services has officially opened, in the northwest of the city, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported Friday.

"All big world capitals have such centers, now Moscow also has one", a head of the department for the consumer market and services said.

The centre includes a pet hotel, veterinary clinic, a visitor's centre, and cemetery for 30,000 pets.

It also offers a wide selection of options for pet burials - from a garden of remembrance to a two-hectare prestigious area, so that both Russian pensioners and oligarchs will be satisfied.

Therefore, prices vary from social ($20) to commercial (up to $200), Vladimir Malyshkov said.

Pet cremation is also one of the services provided.

The spokesman said that the latter had been a rather controversial issue for city authorities as local residents were afraid that the cremation could be carried out on the premises.
