BAKU, August 15 (RIA Novosti) - Azerbaijan's gross domestic product grew 34.5%, year-on-year, in January-July to 12.7 billion manat (over $14.8 billion), the statistics committee of the energy-rich South Caucasus nation said Wednesday.

It said per capita GDP in the reporting period was more than 1,500 manat, or $1,700.

The production sector contributed 72.9% to the GDP, including 61.2% from industry.

The construction sector accounted for 7%, agriculture and forestry 4.7%, and the services sector 19.5%.

Azerbaijan holds vast oil and gas reserves in the Caspian, which it exports to neighboring Georgia, Turkey and Europe. The high oil price was a major factor in the country's impressive GDP growth.

The nominal income grew 39.1%, year-on-year, to 7 billion manat (over $8.2 billion).

On average, an Azerbaijani earned 832.5 manats (about $964) in the first six months of the year, a 37.5% increase, year-on-year.
