BEIJING, August 3 (RIA Novosti) - Russia was the largest importer of Chinese cars in the first half of 2007, accounting for 16% of the country's total automobile exports, according to official Chinese data.
China's export-import chamber for machines and technical production said the country exports its cars to 177 countries. In January-June, Russia imported 38,600 automobiles, up 480% year-on-year. The deliveries were worth $450 million, 350% more than in the same period of last year.
Russia is followed in the list by its ex-Soviet neighbor Kazakhstan, which bought almost 6,500 Chinese cars worth $184 million in January-June, an almost 300% increase year-on-year.
Iran ranks third, having imported $170 million-worth of Chinese automobiles.
