Transaero's net profit up 20% to $10 mln in 1H07

MOSCOW, August 1 (RIA Novosti) - Transaero Airlines and its 100% subsidiary Transaero-Finance said Wednesday their net profits increased 20.7% in the first half of 2007 to 257 million ($10 million) year-on-year.

The two companies posted consolidated revenues of 9.3 billion rubles ($364 million) in the reporting period. The airline's revenues increased 51% year-on-year to 8.8 billion rubles ($345 million) and its sales profit grew fivefold to 501 million rubles ($19.6 million).

Passenger traffic also increased 51% to 5 billion passenger-kilometers in January-June 2007, and the number of passengers grew 48% to 1.3 million in the same period.

Established in 1991, Transaero was Russia's first private airline. Its net profit calculated to Russian Accounting Standards was 304.8 million rubles ($11.9 million) last year, up 70% against 2005.

International destinations account for over 80% of passenger traffic and the airline's fleet comprises 27 aircraft: one Tupolev-214, six Boeing 747s, seven Boeing 767s, and thirteen 737s.
