YEGORIEVSK (Moscow Region), July 26 (RIA Novosti) - The Moscow region's economy is growing fast, and its total output for this year may reach 1 trillion rubles ($39 billion), the regional governor, Boris Gromov, said Thursday.

"The [current] rate of GRP growth in the region gives us reason to believe we will likely reach this figure by the year's end," he said.

The Moscow region is expected to double its annual GRP by the year 2010, Gromov added.

According to the governor, direct foreign investment in the region totaled $3 billion in the first half of 2007, and industrial output grew by 11.2%.
