MOSCOW, July 24 (RIA Novosti) - Gazprombank increased its net profit calculated to Russian Accounting Standards in the first half of 2007 by 26.5% year-on-year to 13.4 billion rubles ($527.8 million), the Central Bank said Tuesday.
The pre-tax profit of the bank, a subsidiary of Russian energy giant Gazprom [RTS: GAZP], in the reporting period grew 32.4% to almost 18 billion rubles ($708.2 million).
Founded in 1990, Gazprombank, which has about 2 million retail clients and over 36,000 corporate clients, is one of the top five banks in Central and Eastern Europe, with assets totaling 1.088 trillion rubles ($43 billion) and equity capital of 88.3 billion rubles ($3.5 billion) as of April this year.
