BEIRUT, July 19 (RIA Novosti) - Lebanese troops seized the headquarters of extremist group Fatah al-Islam in a Palestinian refugee camp in north Lebanon, the country's national news agency said Thursday.

The Nahr al-Bared camp, one of 12 Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, has seen fierce fighting between the Lebanese Army and Fatah al-Islam militants over the past two months, which has left at least 108 soldiers and over 130 militants and civilians dead.

Lebanese press reported that the Islamists have been cornered in an area of not more than 100 square meters, and that Lebanese troops are directing tank and artillery fire on them, while the militants are firing back with rocket salvos.
