WASHINGTON, June 23 (RIA Novosti) - The Atlantis space shuttle successfully landed at Edwards Air Force Base, California, on Friday at 7.49 p.m. GMT after it had missed earlier its first landing opportunity due to bad weather over Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The shuttle, which carried out its 28th mission, returned from the International Space Station, where it has delivered a second starboard truss segment and a set of solar arrays. Its launch was delayed for almost two months due to hailstorm damage.

The shuttle brought back U.S. astronaut Sunita Williams, who spent more than six months in space, setting a record for the longest uninterrupted spaceflight by a woman.
