MOSCOW, June 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Transportation Ministry said it was considering prohibiting four of the country's airlines from flying to the European Union as of June 25.

The ministry said in a news release that a ban on regular, charter and single flights could be imposed on south Russia's Kavminvodyavia and Kuban Airlines, East Siberia's Yakutia Airlines and Moscow's Airlines 400, due to their noncompliance with Russian transport regulations, and in order to bring the companies in line with EU standards.

The proposal was made by the ministry's two subordinate regulatory bodies, the Federal Service for the Oversight of Transportation and the Federal Air Transportation Agency.
