MINSK, May 27 (RIA Novosti) - The Belarus opposition gave up the idea of a single leader at the 2008 parliamentary elections, following the results of its congress Sunday.

The congress of the Belarus opposition decided May 27 to form collective bodies to govern the opposition coalition.

Alexander Milinkevich, the main opposition candidate at the 2006 presidential elections, earlier opposed this move but told reporters after the congress that he intended to cooperate with the opposition coalition.

At the same time, Milinkevich said he would work in his newly established movement "For Freedom." According to Milinkevich, this situation will not lead to a split in the opposition ranks because his supporters and he have voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the opposition coalition.
