MOSCOW, April 26 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's S7 Airlines has signed a deal with the world's leading aerospace company on the purchase of 10 Boeing 737-800 Next-Generation aircraft for $705 million at catalog prices, the U.S.-based corporation said Thursday.

Russia's second-largest carrier after Aeroflot said it will transfer the aircraft to its recently established division, S7 Charter, for use on routes linking Moscow with popular foreign resorts.

S7 Airlines, formerly Sibir Airlines, was renamed in March 2006, and encountered a series of difficulties last year, the most severe being a tragedy in Siberia's city of Irkutsk July 9 when an Airbus 310 crashed on landing at the airport, killing at least 124 and injuring 70 out of 203 people on board.

In 2006, S7 performed over 40,000 flights, carrying 4.9 million passengers and more than 28,000 metric tons of cargo and mail.
