CAIRO, April 25 (RIA Novosti) - Over 50 states and international organizations are expected to support a nation-building initiative for Iraq, an Egyptian foreign ministry spokesman said Wednesday.
The deal, drafted by the Iraqi government, United Nations, and World Bank, will be announced May 3 at a ministerial conference in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, Hisham al-Naqib said.
The deal is expected to offer Iraq international assistance in return for economic, political and security reforms, such as making material progress on security within five years.
"The initiative is aimed at establishing a partnership between the Iraqi government and international community," al-Naqib said.
