Russia's federal budget surplus tops $18 bln in 1Q07

MOSCOW, April 11 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's budget surplus in the first quarter of 2007 was tentatively 471.9 billion rubles ($18.2 billion), down 575.9 billion rubles ($22.22 billion) year-on-year, the finance ministry's press service said Wednesday.

Budget revenues amounted to 1.4 trillion rubles ($54.01 billion) and budget expenditure stood at 1.2 trillion rubles ($46.3 billion) in January-March 2007.

The finance ministry also said that revenue to the Russian Stabilization Fund totaled 494.9 billion rubles ($19.09 billion) in the period under review. As of April 1, 2007, the Stabilization Fund was 2.8 trillion rubles ($108.02 billion).

The law on federal budget for 2007 envisaged a surplus of 1.5 trillion rubles ($57.87 billion).

In January Russia's federal budget surplus stood at 218.2 billion rubles ($8.42 billion) and in February it was 122.9 billion rubles ($4.74 billion).
