CANNES, France, March 13 (RIA Novosti). - The Russian region of Tver has presented 12 projects worth more than $1 billion at the international real estate show MIPIM-2007 in Cannes, France, Dmitry Zelenin, Tver's governor, told reporters.
He said these projects concerned the use of city areas (housing and office construction) as well as projects aimed at creating resorts for Russian guests. One of these projects is the Zavidovskiye Dali resort and spa, situated some 50 kilometers from the city of Tver on the border with the Moscow Region. A school for children with special needs and guest cottages will be built at the facility, which will have an area of 100,000 square meters. The center's grounds will have a total area of 54 hectares. The cost of construction, which is expected to begin in 2008 and finish in 2012, is estimated at $120 million.
The project's investors and contractors are already known, but, the designers said, "we will not object to more investment if somebody takes an interest in the project at this show."
The center will accommodate 1,000 people and create 900 jobs, including medical staff.
Five companies will run the center's technical and medical operations as well as the school and restaurants.
Zelenin said that the Tver Region was taking part in the show for the first time but was now going to take part every year. "The most important thing for the region is to show investors its possibilities for potential projects. Government activity determines where investors will go," said the Tver governor. He added that though Tuesday was the first day of the show and a number of investors had already shown interest in projects in the Tver Region, a number of meetings and talks with consulting companies were planned.
Thirty-seven Russian regions are taking part in the real estate show.
The 18th MIPIM exhibition show is running in Cannes from March 13 to 16. One of the largest yearly events in international investment, it was attended in 2006 by more than 5,500 companies, 15,500 professionals, 3,800 investors and major renters from 67 countries and 560 journalists.
