MOSCOW, March 4 (RIA Novosti) - The rescue operation, in which three persons have been recovered alive from a collapsed building in Russia's capital, has come to an end, the emergencies ministry said Sunday.
An old building under reconstruction in central Moscow collapsed Saturday at about 9:00 p.m. Moscow time (6:00 p.m. GMT), trapping three Ukrainian workers beneath the rubble. All of them were later brought to the surface, the ministry said.
"The rescuers have inspected all the premises in the building, including the basement. No victims have been found," the ministry said.
The construction company in charge of the building's reconstruction has started to use heavy equipment to clear the rubble, the ministry said.
Two of the Ukrainian workers are currently in hospital, the ministry said.
A criminal case into the violation of labor safety rules has been opened, the ministry said.
