Update: Third hospitalized in construction crane tragedy in north Russia

ST. PETERSBURG, February 27 (RIA Novosti) - A third man has been hospitalized following the collapse of a construction crane in St. Petersburg, which left three others dead, emergencies officials said.

The 18-year-old young man sustained bruises and a concussion.

A construction crane collapsed onto a nearby apartment bloc in the north of Russia's second city Tuesday morning, killing a 65-year-old woman, a 14-month-old child, and an unidentified man.

Two other men were hospitalized earlier. Their condition has not been reported so far, officials said.

Residents were being evacuated as the crane caused extensive damage to the building's three upper floors and shifted its structure from the roof down to the seventh floor.

The cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
