PETROPAVLOVSK KAMCHATSKY, January 5 (RIA Novosti) - Prosecutors in Russia's Far East have opened a criminal case against the captain of a Cambodian fishing boat, which was detained January 2 for alleged poaching, the Kamchatka environmental prosecutor's office said Friday.

Coast Guard inspectors arrested the Oriong 1 boat and its crew, comprising 13 Russian nationals and two citizens of Burma, off the Kamchatcka Peninsula in the small hours Tuesday, after discovering some 25 metric tons of crab on board. The vessel's captain failed to produce any documents authorizing the catch.

The boat is currently being convoyed to the port of Petropavlovsk Kamchatsky for an inquiry and is expected to arrive at the port January 7.
