MOSCOW, January 4 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Air Force will soon receive a new-generation surveillance radar system capable of effectively detecting targets in the mountains, a senior commander said Thursday.
Major General Anatoly Boyarintsev, head of the Air Force's radio-technical troops, said Russian enterprises are completing developing of hardware designed to apply a new radar-surveillance technology for observation of area objects, including mountainous terrain.
"A gorge could be covered in full by a single radar," he said.
