MOSCOW, November 16 (RIA Novosti) - Comstar United Telesystems [RTS: CMST] said Thursday its net profit calculated to Russian Accounting Standards rose 260% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2006, to 151.57 million rubles (about $5.6 million).
Comstar UTS, the largest multi-service communications operator in Moscow and the Moscow Region, which operates in several Russian regions and former Soviet republics, said its earnings increased 17.2% in the reporting period to 2.65 billion rubles (about $98 million) and gross profit was up 3.8% to 1.12 billion rubles (about $41 million).
The company's main shareholder is AFK Sistema, which holds a 54.58% stake.
