MOSCOW, November 1 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Anti-Fascist Front will hold a rally against fascism in Moscow November 4, the Day of National Unity, a member of the organization said Wednesday.

About 2,000 members of the Russian Anti-Fascist Front, uniting the SPS and Yabloko parties, will hold a sanctioned rally under the motto: "Fascism in Russia Will Not Pass."

Russia's nationalist forces also intended to hold a rally November 4, but the event was prohibited Tuesday by Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov.

Last year, 3,000 people from radical right movements, including the Movement Against Illegal Immigration, the Russian National Union, the National Patriotic Front Memory, and skinheads, gathered for the Right March in central Moscow.

Marchers chanted nationalist slogans, such as "Russia for Russians."

"It was an unpleasant and alarming sign for those who want to live a normal and peaceful life," Luzhkov said, adding that radical movements want to destroy Russia's unity.

"Russia will not survive a nationalist split of the state if we do not prevent it," he said.

He also said he did not rule out attempts to hold the march.

Following Luzhkov's statement, organizers of the radical march said they might hold the event, which they said might gather at least 10,000 people, at a Moscow metro station. Metro chief Dmitry Gayev, however, said the marchers will not be admitted.

Dmitry Rogozin, a Rodina (Homeland) faction member said: "The marchers will not use any slogans inciting inter-ethnic discord or promoting fascist symbols."

Moscow police said Wednesday some 6,500 policemen will ensure security November 4 and will stop any attempt to break the law.

November 4 was first introduced as National Unity Day last year to mark Moscow's liberation from Polish invaders in 1612, replacing November 7, which commemorated the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution.
