MOSCOW, October 31 (RIA Novosti) - Gazexport intends to increase natural gas supplies to Britain to 12 billion cubic meters per year by 2010-2012, Russian energy giant Gazprom's export arm said Tuesday.

Deputy Director General Sergei Chelpanov said Gazexport intends to export 5 billion cu m of gas to Britain in 2006.

He also said the company's total gas exports in 2006 would be 2.7-3.4% higher than in 2005, reaching 151-152 billion cu m.

Chelpanov said that in 2005, Gazexport exported 147 billion cu m of gas, of which 80% went to European countries under long-term agreements.

Natural gas export accounted for 15% of Russia's exports in the first half of 2006, he said.
