MOSCOW, October 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Industry and Energy Ministry has submitted a draft law to the government on regulating foreign direct investment in the country's strategic enterprises, a government official said Friday

The State Duma is expected to consider the bill before the end of the year.

The bill on the procedure for long-term foreign investment in "commercial companies of strategic significance to the national security of Russia" proposes certain restrictions on the acquisition by foreign corporations of controlling stakes in Russian strategic enterprises, but does not introduce any outright bans.

The bill covers five main sectors: the space industry, nuclear power engineering, arms production, special technologies, and aviation.

The law is expected to come into force in mid-2007.
