* At the 12-game match for the World Chess Champion title between Classical World Chess Champion Vladimir Kramnik (Russia) and FIDE world champion Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria) in Elista, Russia:

- Kramnik drew with Topalov, playing black. The match tied 5.5-5.5 after the eleven games.

* At the NBA Europe Live basketball tournament's finals in Cologne (Germany), involving top European and U.S. NBA teams:

- CSKA Moscow beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 90:81 in the semifinal, to take on the Philadelphia Sixers (U.S.) in the final

* Russia's national soccer under-21 team failed to book a berth in the 2007 European Under-21 Championship in the Netherlands, losing to Portugal 0-3 in the away second leg of the two-leg series.
