MOSCOW, October 9 (RIA Novosti) - Russia has asked Georgian diplomats to allow two evacuating planes to land on its territory on Tuesday and Wednesday amid a spying row, an official said Monday.
Ivan Volynkin, Russia's charges d'affaires in Georgia, said Russia's two planes are to take a total of 270 Russians home after Russia cut off transportation links with Georgia in the wake of a diplomatic conflict over the detention of Russian servicemen in Georgia on espionage charges.
Volynkin said he hoped Russia would "receive an affirmative answer from the Georgian side."
