MOSCOW, October 8 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said Sunday the relations between Russia and Angola can be brought to a higher level of cooperation.

"At present, our cooperation encompasses almost all spheres of intergovernmental relations," Putin said in a congratulatory note to his Angolan counterpart Jose Eduardo dos Santos on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the bilateral Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation.

"I am certain that we have good prospects to bring Russian-Angolan ties to a new level," he said.

During his recent African tour, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said a number of Russian companies were considering participation in various energy projects in Angola and other African countries.

Technopromexport, Russia's state builder of energy facilities and electricity exporter, said on June 28 it was planning to get involved in two power station projects in Angola worth a total of over $1 billion.
