MOSCOW, October 5 (RIA Novosti) - Surgutneftegaz [RTS: SNGS] posted a 3.6% increase in oil production in the first three quarters, year-on-year, to 49.22 million metric tons (361million bbl) Thursday.

The Siberian oil and gas company's press service said the figure included 222,000 metric tons produced at its core oilfield of Talakan, in East Siberia, in the reported period.

Gas production increased 3%, year-on-year, to 10.91 billion cubic meters, and gas processing totaled more than 3.4 billion cubic meters, on 2.7 billion cubic meters in January-September 2005.

The press service said gas processing grew 23%, mostly due to new gas processing equipment.

Drilling increased from to 2.4 million meters of rock, including about 113,800 meters of exploratory drilling. The company also commissioned 700 new wells in January-September, compared with 688 wells in the same period in 2005.
