SINGAPORE, September 18 (RIA Novosti) - Russia supports the idea of revising the traditional model of operation that the World Bank uses with its clients, the Russian finance minister said Monday.
Alexei Kudrin spoke at a session of the Development Committee, a forum of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank that facilitates intergovernmental consensus building on development issues.
"We especially support the idea of reviewing the traditional model for providing services to clients," he said.
He said it was essential to expand the range of financial services, including new forms of crediting, in particular the issuance of loans in national currencies and the provision of structured financial products to improve access to capital markets and stimulate foreign direct investment.
Kudrin said access to these services should be made easier for clients with a proven track record.
