DAMASCUS, September 12 (RIA Novosti)-The U.S. Embassy in the Syrian capital, Damascus, appears to have been attacked Tuesday morning.
A series of explosions followed by gunfire rocked the Syrian capital, Damascus, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported from the city, and a policeman standing at a cordoned off area said the shooting had happened at the American diplomatic mission.
The district houses many missions, but the Russian Embassy is located in a different part of the city.
The gunfire has subsided since the incident was first reported at just after 10 a.m. local time (6 a.m. GMT), the correspondent said.
