MOSCOW, September 4 (RIA Novosti) - Three inmates of a Moscow pre-trial detention center who took two to 15 hostages earlier today demanded their sentences be reviewed.

A spokesman for the Federal Penitentiary Service said the three disagreed with the sentences the court passed on them for serious crimes, including murder.

"Convicts took officers hostage at pre-trial detention center No.9 while they were in the exercise yard," Alexander Sidorov said. "Now they are inside one of the center's offices and claim they are holding 15 officers."

He said the convicts were soon to have been sent to prisons to serve out their terms.

Moscow prosecutor Yury Syomin arrived at the scene, located in an industrial area at a distance from residential buildings. Some 670 inmates are held at the center.
