- Larisa Ilchenko won gold in the 10km open water swimming women's competition in 2h 19m 49.9s. Her teammate Kseniya Popova took bronze in 2h 19m 59.8s, losing just 0.5s to silver medalist Poliana Okimoto (Brazil).

- Yevgeny Drattsev won bronze in the 10km open water swimming men's competition in 2h 10m 40.7s, finishing just 0.2s behind Valerio Cleri (Italy). Thomas Lurz (Germany) won gold in 2h 10m 39.4s.
