MOSCOW, August 27 (RIA Novosti) - President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Moldovan president with the 15th anniversary of the republic's independence, the Kremlin press office said Sunday.
On August 27, 1991, Moldova adopted a declaration of independence.
"This date is an important landmark on the way of forming and strengthening Moldovan statehood, achieving social, economic and political stability," the Russian president's congratulatory letter says. "I am confident that the traditionally friendly Russian-Moldovan relations will continue to develop in the interests of our countries for the sake of creativeness and progress," the letter says.
