MOSCOW, August 19 (RIA Novosti) - Communist Party members gathered Saturday near Red Square in Moscow to mark the 15th anniversary of August 1991 events.

About 100 party activists, mainly elderly people, gathered in front of the Museum of Revolution waving red flags and slogans: "Long live the USSR," "Capitalism is death," "Let's restore the Soviet Union, our common house."

Speakers traditionally criticized the Russian leadership for drastic economic and political reforms and the U.S. foreign policies.

The Russian Communist Party claims it has about 580,000 members and is second in the country after the ruling pro-Kremlin United Russia party.
